HTTP is widely, commonly or mainly described, defined or denoted to the term “Hypertext Transfer Protocol”. This protocol is actually used in computer networking just in intention to get smooth run of hypermedia, collaborative or distributed information systems. In other words, this in discussion HTTP protocol may be described or defined as the foundation of the famously known WWW (World Wide Web) in terms of data communication.
The standard or you may say major development of this protocol type is actually the result of a coordination made or developed between World Wide Web Consortium and IETF (also recognized as Internet Engineering Task Force) which was finished or concluded by Requests for Comments (also recognized as RFC 2616) in June of year 1999 when version 1.1 was given by RFC to HTTP protocol and this version was then brought in common use globally.
This protocol, which is recognized as HTTP, actually functions or you may say works in the computing model of client-server being a request-response protocol. In this data communication type, a client is recognized as the web browser while the computer where the hosting of requested website is made, works as server in this computing model of client-server.
A request message or you may say command is received or acknowledged by the server in this computing model of client-server from the client through “Hypertext Transfer Protocol”. Then a response message from that server, which is actually hosting the images and or files or you may HTML etc. files, is sent back to the client which was generating the HTTP request to the server. Some functions on client’s behalf are also performed through HTTP requests at the server side.
